Gino Paoli recorded his voice for the song When I see you in a single session, which took place in a rainy afternoon in Rome, at the studio of producer and composer Adriano Pennino.
Paoli introduced himself to the studio with the already ready text, sang the song only once from the beginning to the end and left the recording as "a sound photograph of a moment". There is no information about the specific date of this day, except the general indication that it was a recording before the singer disappeared in March 2026. The missing vocal part of Ornella Vanoni was later replaced by Paolo Fresu's trumpet, recorded on December 10, 2025.
